The
office of Controller of Communication Accounts,
Maharashtra Circle
, was set up on 1st October, 2000 as a field unit of
Department of Telecom, in the wake of the formation of Bharat
Sanchar Nigam Limited. The CCA has been declared as the Head of
the Department and is entrusted with specific functions
relating to Government revenue collection and accounting in the Department
of Telecom, like payment of pension to retirees of BSNL,
collection of licence fee and spectrum charges on behalf of the
Department of Telecom, verification and processing of claims of USO
subsidy of telecom operators
